Douma Skirt
Douma is a city in Eastern Ghouta. During the war, it became one of the central places where siege conditions lasted for years. Movement in and out of the city was heavily restricted. Food, fuel, and medical supplies were limited. Public institutions could no longer function in the way they once did, so residents organized their own systems of survival.
Families opened underground schools to keep children learning when streets were unsafe. Women ran collective kitchens, preparing food in rotation so that no household was left alone. Local carpenters and mechanics built improvised medical equipment from spare parts when hospitals ran out of supplies. Bread was baked in makeshift bakeries, and distribution networks formed quietly between homes. Life continued because ordinary people made it continue. Douma is remembered for persistence-the daily work of getting through another day together. This skirt reflects that clarity. A clean silhouette, direct and composed.
Fabric
A structured brocade with a soft metallic finish.
The surface texture has a subtle raised pattern, catching light in a quiet shimmer.
The fabric holds its shape well, giving the pencil silhouette a smooth, sculpted line while still allowing ease of movement. It feels refined and grounded, with a gentle sheen that becomes more visible as it moves.
